PDX Mouse Models

Patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models from the Mouse Biology Program – powerful tools in cancer research and personalized treatment strategies.

The Mouse Biology Program specializes in rapidly creating patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models using freshly harvested and frozen tumors. These tumors can be implanted heterotopically, subcutaneously, or orthotopically under the renal capsule into highly immunodeficient mouse strains (e.g., NSG, NRG) or immuno-humanized mice. These PDX models provide a highly relevant platform for studying human cancers in a living system, allowing researchers to investigate tumor growth, metastasis, and therapeutic responses in a controlled, reproducible environment.

Once the PDX models are established, we offer a wide range of additional services to support ongoing research, including:

  • Serial Passage: We can pass tumors through multiple generations to maintain the model and ensure consistent tumor biology.
  • Drug Testing: We perform in vivo drug efficacy studies to evaluate potential therapies, offering insights into tumor response, resistance mechanisms, and therapeutic windows.
  • Tumor Harvest: Once the tumor has reached a desired size, we can harvest it for further analysis.
  • Histopathology: Detailed histopathological examination of the harvested tumor is available to assess morphological characteristics and confirm tumor identity.
  • Genetic and Immune Profiling: We provide genetic and immune profiling services to characterize both the tumor and host response, offering insights into mutations, gene expression, and immune interactions within the tumor microenvironment.

By combining our expertise in creating PDX models with these comprehensive services, we help advance cancer research and therapy development by providing robust, clinically relevant models tailored to your study needs.
