The UC Davis M3 Barrier is a high-health-status, restricted-entry mouse facility designed to ensure strict pathogen control and optimal conditions for housing research mice. Access is limited to authorized personnel, and all staff follow rigorous sterilization protocols, including showering before entry and wearing full protective gear. Equipment and supplies are thoroughly sterilized before being brought into the facility. Mice are housed in individually ventilated cages and handled under controlled conditions to maintain a clean, secure environment.
All mice in the facility are rederived via embryo transfer to maintain a pathogen-free status. Regular health screenings are conducted for sentinel mice and breeding colonies, with more frequent monitoring of maternity and stock colonies. Health reports for distribution rooms are available upon request, and detailed individual animal reports are provided after weaning and before shipment.
