The Mouse Biology Program offers hands-on training in breeding, colony management, phenotyping, and genetic analysis, empowering researchers with the skills and knowledge to confidently advance research efforts.
The Mouse Biology Program (MBP) offers a range of training opportunities designed to equip researchers, students, and professionals with the skills needed for successful mouse model research. Our training programs cover various aspects of mouse biology, from colony management to advanced phenotyping and genetic engineering techniques. Each program is led by experienced staff and tailored to provide hands-on experience, ensuring participants gain practical knowledge applicable to their research.
Available Training Programs
Colony Management and Husbandry This program offers foundational training in mouse colony management, covering best practices for breeding, weaning, and maintaining genetic integrity. Participants learn to monitor health, implement genotyping protocols, and manage colony logistics efficiently.
Genetic Engineering Techniques Learn the latest genetic engineering methods, including CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, embryonic stem cell manipulation, and transgenic techniques. This training covers everything from designing constructs to producing genetically modified mice, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of mouse model development.
Phenotyping and Behavioral Assessment Our phenotyping training focuses on designing and implementing tests to assess genetically modified mice’s behavioral, motor, sensory, and metabolic characteristics. Participants receive hands-on instruction in administering phenotype tests, analyzing data, and interpreting results to support impactful research.
Cryopreservation and Reproductive Technologies This course teaches cryopreservation techniques for embryos and sperm and reproductive technologies like in vitro fertilization (IVF) and embryo transfer. Participants gain skills in preserving and recovering genetic lines, enabling them to support long-term research objectives and maintain genetic continuity.
Who Can Participate?
Our training programs are open to researchers, graduate students, lab technicians, and professionals in biomedical research. Whether you are new to mouse model studies or looking to enhance your skills, we offer programs suitable for all experience levels. Participants can also request custom training tailored to their project needs or research goals.
