Sharing Policies

Understand our sharing policies to promote collaboration and transparency while safeguarding research integrity with the Mouse Biology Program.

The Mouse Biology Program (MBP) is committed to advancing scientific research through responsible data and mouse model sharing. Our data and animal-sharing policies are designed to promote collaboration, transparency, and compliance with ethical standards while safeguarding the integrity of our research materials and information.

Animal Sharing Policy

The Mouse Biology Program facilitates ethical and efficient sharing of animal models, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and maintaining animal welfare standards.

  • Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs): All transfers require an MTA, which outlines terms for use, intellectual property rights, and care standards. This ensures ethical usage and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Health and Welfare Standards: Shared mice undergo comprehensive health screening to confirm they are pathogen-free. Transfers adhere to USDA, NIH, and IACUC requirements, ensuring high animal welfare standards.
  • Approved Vendor Designation: MBP can serve as an “Approved Vendor” for requesting institutions, simplifying importation and ensuring compliance with institutional and national standards.
  • Usage Restrictions: Shared animals are for specific research purposes outlined in the MTA. Redistribution, breeding, or commercialization is prohibited without prior written approval.

Compliance and Ethical Considerations

All data and animal-sharing activities at MBP adhere to ethical guidelines and legal requirements, including those set by the NIH, IACUC, and relevant regulatory bodies. We are dedicated to ensuring that all shared resources contribute positively to scientific research while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and responsibility.

Promoting Responsible Sharing for Scientific Advancement

MBP fosters collaboration, transparency, and scientific discovery by facilitating the ethical sharing of data and mouse models. For more information about our sharing policies or to request resources, please contact our team.
